Why does Life Church of Athens exist?

Simply put: Love God. Love our neighbors. Make disciples. We want to draw people who are near and far from God into experiencing true life in Christ. We are committed to making a difference in the Athens community, and we want you to partner with us on this exciting journey! Join us for strong Biblical teaching, fresh and inspiring worship, and an atmosphere of true community. Regardless of your background or your view of religion...YOU are WELCOME at Life Church of Athens!

Membership Orientation

At Life Church, we take membership seriously and hope you will as well. It is certainly expected that each member will have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and have followed Him in believer’s baptism. If you will then make it known to the pastor that you are interested in becoming a part of the Life Church family, he will schedule a time to speak with you in order to get to know you better and to allow you a time to ask any questions as you might have. There are also three basic classes to be completed for anyone desiring membership. First – “What We Believe about Salvation and Baptism”. Second – “What We Believe about Essential Doctrines of the Faith”. And third – “Expectations of a Life Church Member”. These classes will be setup with our pastor at your convenience. The Life Church of Athens Membership Covenant

Having received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, having been baptized by immersion and having accepted God's Word alone as the standard by which all matters of belief and conduct are to be decided, and being in agreement with the statements, strategy, and structure of Life Church of Athens, I, being led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the fellowship of Life Church of Athens, commit myself to God and to the other members of this church to do the following:

1. I WILL PROTECT THE UNITY OF MY CHURCH

By acting in love toward other members, 1 Pet. 1:22.

By refusing to gossip, Eph. 4:29.

By following its leaders, Heb. 13:17.

By submitting to its discipline, Matt. 18:15-17.

2. I WILL SHARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF MY CHURCH

By praying for its growth, 1 Thes.1:2.

By inviting the unchurched to attend, Luke 14:23.

By warmly welcoming those who visit, Rom. 15:7.

3. I WILL SERVE THE MINISTRY OF MY CHURCH

By discovering my gifts and talents, 1 Pet. 4:10.

By being equipped to serve by my pastors, Eph. 4:11-12.

By developing a servant's heart, Phil. 2:2-4, 7.

4. I WILL SUPPORT THE TESTIMONY OF MY CHURCH

By attending faithfully, Heb. 10:25.

By living a Godly life, Phil. 1:27.

By giving regularly, 1 Cor. 16:2, Lev. 27:30.
